The actual major cost consideration is overseas shipping cost. The 560 ozinch stepper system was a small marginal cost. The 1800 ozin steppers are for my large Taiwan Mill and a Plasma cutting table yet to be built. The 560 ozin steppers will be used for a mini mill and 9X27 lathe. Swapping steppers between machines is not an issue.

Search for proper parts and take your time. I could have build the machine in a month, but because I had to search for parts on Ebay etc., it took me half a year. This keeps the costs down of course, I was able to build the machine for less then €1000, I hope the story encourages you to build your own CNC milling machine.
